November 30, 2019 - Fly to Carlisle, PA for Breakfast

The weather was pretty good  for late November on this Saturday morning so the Hangar Row A Flyers headed northwest to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for breakfast.  We had Chuck in his 172, Tom/Rachel in the Maule, and Mark B./Ron in Mark's Arrow.  Plus myself, of course.

Here is a good pic of Chuck with Tom on his right wing.

And Chuck took this excellent pic of me on his left wing in close.

Another pic of the 172 and Maule in loose formation.  The weather was excellent:  smooth, great vis, light winds, cool but not cold.  The plane's engine loved the cool, dense air.

A good view of the northern Maryland countryside.  Brown and olive drab; hey, it's winter.

Approaching a reservoir on the way to Carlisle.

Turning downwind at Carlisle Airport (N94)

I landed and rolled to the end of the unusually long runway - 4,000 feet -- and waited for Chuck and Tom to land before back taxiing.

The plan had been to walk to the Farmers Market Diner for breakfast.  But a local pilot said it was closed, probably for good!  Oh, no!  Then he recommended another place about the same walking distance away so we headed there.

Here is the little pilot's shack:  small but comfortable.

Our destination:  Momma Spriggs restaurant.  We lucked out.  We only had to wait a short time and the breakfast food was excellent.

Back at the airport.  Neal, from Clearview in the blue/white RV-8A, had met us here and joined us for breakfast.

A big Albatross overlooks the airport.

Time to mount up and head for home.

Carlisle, PA from the air.  Carlisle is the home of the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks.

I had places to go and people to meet so I headed directly home and made some speed.

Pasing by a big horse farm.

Passing by Timonium Fairgrounds.  There is usually something going on here and today is no exception.  Look at all the cars.

Mark's PA-28R-200 Arrow (with retractable landing gear).
